Student parking on campus

Parking permits are now paperless at Sussex.

Eligible students can apply for a paperless parking permit .

If you are a student and have a disability or temporary mobility issue,  before applying for a parking permit via the portal.

Although most other students are not eligible to apply for campus parking, exceptions may be made for students with the following exceptional circumstances:

  • Students who are responsible for primary aged children and/or are guardians to other dependents, with select parking spaces reserved for carers before 10am
  • PhD students who are also members of University staff, depending on working hours and employment status
  • Students living on campus with families
  • Students who live far enough from campus that a journey via public transport would take over 1.25 hours (1 hour and 15 minutes); this is calculated as a journey to campus at 8.30am on a Monday morning
  • Students enrolled on a PGCE or Early Years Learning course with the School of Education and Social Work (ESW), that are on placements for most of the week and only need to visit campus on Fridays

If you are a student and you are not eligible to apply for a full time permit under Exceptional Circumstances, you can apply for a free off-peak permit to park on campus via the self-service portal. This permit is only valid overnight from 5pm to 9am on weekdays, and all day at weekends. During working hours, you will need to pay for standard visitor parking.
