Collection Description
Popular playwright and songwriter Noël Coward (1899-1973) was awarded an honorary doctorate of literature from the University of Sussex in 1972. To mark the occasion, he donated a set of his published works and an autograph script of his play Quadrille (1952) to the Library. There have since been two additions to Coward’s gift: ‘Actors Aren’t People’, a 199-page memoir by Coward protégé and stage director John C Wilson, and a videocassette copy of the 1992 South Bank Show on Coward himself.
