AQA vacancies for PhD and PGCE students to mark GCSE and A-Level exams

The UK's largest provider of school and college-level academic qualifications - the AQA - are currently looking for doctoral researchers and PGCE students in English, Geography, Philosophy and Sociology to mark GCSE and A-level exams.

Doctoral researchers in Geography and Philosophy are particularly encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants will mark exam papers from home during the period between the end of May to the end of July 2017, depending on subject area.

The marking period is between 3-4 weeks, and applicants will need to be able to commit 2-3 hours marking for five days a week, as well as a few hours to undergo some online training at the end of May/early June.

All successful applicants will be provided with support and guidance from a team leader and the AQA’s dedicated examiner assistance team.

What will it pay?

Successful applicants will earn between £630 and £950, depending upon the subject and the paper to be marked.

To apply you will need:

  • A relevant PhD or PGCE in English, Geography, Philosophy or Sociology
  • A true passion for your subject – you will consider yourself an expert
  • The ability to follow directions and a mark scheme
  • An excellent command of English language
  • Access to a private PC/laptop with Windows 7 or above installed to work alongside marking/training software and excellent IT skills
  • The time available to dedicate to marking
