DISCUS

The Data-Intensive Science Centre at the ÄûÃÊÊÓƵ (DISCUS) addresses real social and economic problems. The DISCUS cross-disciplinary team applies data-science and machine learning expertise to fields such as particle physics, astronomy, and computer vision.

We support the UK’s public and private sector organisations to exploit their largest and most complex data sets, delivering beneficial outcomes for the general public, and gaining a competitive advantage on the international stage.

One of the projects we are most proud of in DISCUS is applying astronomy data analysis to enhance disaster forecasting (AstroCast). Read more about this project (and others) on the case studies page.

Meet your future employers: networking at the Old Ship Hotel

DISCUS, with support from Silicon Brighton, host the networking event for graduates and industry representatives.

It's the end of the academic year! DISCUS is organising a drinks reception and a chance to meet local employers, who will be looking to hire data scientists or offer placements & internships.

We'll host around 40 local companies and some of them will give a two-minute pitch on what they work on and what working for them is like.

Event is taking place on 18th July in the Old Ship Hotel in Brighton. You can for the 'Meet your future employers' event now.
