The political map of contemporary Europe is changing rapidly and fundamentally.

On this module, you'll take a comparative approach to look at politics across Europe to try to map some of the changes as well as identifying some of the constants.

Instead of taking a country-by-country approach, you'll addresses key themes that relate both to politics in general and to Europe in particular.

The module addresses key comparative questions about governance that relate to institutions of politics and to the interaction of society and politics across Europe.

  • Identify key features in the political institutions and processes of politics in European countries
  • Explore some of the common challenges facing European governments and their citizens
  • Relate abstract schemas and models to empirical examples in European politics
