Creative Systems and Computational Art
Module code: P5083
Level 5
15 credits in autumn semester
Teaching method: Workshop
Assessment modes: Coursework
The module is based around the production and engagement of a creative system, located in computational art that explore different platforms and interfaces produced using software and coding skills acquired at prior stages, and introduce various mode of fabrication and physical computing. The module is intended to complement concurrent modules.
This module builds on the practical, conceptual and critical skills acquired previously.
It allows you to focus on the realisation of a creative system, whilst expanding your knowledge of computational art practice and thinking.
You will:
- enhance your understanding of key processes and techniques
- learn to research in depth, drawing on a range of sources
- translate your research into an appropriate sensory form which demonstrates critical awareness of the subject and the genre.
Module learning outcomes
- Acquire an ability to complete a practical project to set standards as defined by a brief.

- Apply methods of critical analysis to the work by clearly defining the relationship between the practical and conceptual development of the creative project.

- Develop research and ethical skills and an understanding of production processes.

- Apply critical reflection, contextual and theoretical engagement through the production of a creative systems project.
