Are you interested in becoming a teacher? Have you ever wondered whether you have the potential to work with young people in a school context? If so, this module will provide a structured and supportive introduction.
This module will introduce you to working in schools, including policy, theory and practice. It will enable you to understand the role of the teacher within a school setting, working to a set of professional standards required for Qualified Teacher Status. It will enable you to engage with issues around child wellbeing, safeguarding, professional values and teaching and learning as well as the opportunity to participate in observing and working with teachers and other school professionals.
It will help you to understand the challenges and rewards of working in school sand will introduce you to a range of professional pathways, such as the ÄûÃÊÊÓƵ’s PGCE programme. It will also develop a wide range of personal and transferable skills attractive to any graduate employer.
Module learning outcomes
- Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of how pupil well being, safeguarding and teaching and learning is organised in school settings
- Demonstrate an ability to reflect on and evaluate learning in a school context based on professional and scholarly literature and analytical reflection on experience and observations
- Communicate knowledge and understanding clearly and effectively in an appropriate format for a range of professional and academic audiences both orally and in writing
