The aim of this module is to assist you in developing a range of communication, personal organisation and learning skills to enable you to pursue a computing degree at he ÄûÃÊÊÓƵ and a career as a computing professional.
Topics covered may include:
- Study skills and approaches to learning in higher education
- Giving presentations
- Project planning: work breakdown and time management
- Writing skills: report structure and presenting technical information
- Referencing and citing sources
- Team working: roles and process
- Reflection on learning.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
