We're planning a major upgrade to wi-fi systems on Tuesday 03 August 2021 between 07:00 and 14:00.
Wired internet connections using network sockets in residences and offices will not be affected by this work. Campus computers in offices, the Library and student computer rooms should also be available as normal. Users connected via the VPN will also be unaffected by this change.
We'll do our best to keep disruption to a minimum but all wi-fi users are likely to notice some interruption during the course of the day. Work will start at 07:00 and wireless connections will be unavailable for 1-2 hours in every part of the campus as we upgrade each part of the infrastructure in turn. Kings Road residents will also be affected.
We hope to restore coverage across the campus from 14:00 onwards
We'll be updating software and settings across the wireless network to fix a number of issues which have been reported by staff and students this term. Although there will be a bit of disruption during the maintenance period, the update should deliver a number of improvements to the service.
UPDATE: 3 Aug 2021 - 2:06pm
Works to update the wireless network are still on-going with the majority of campus and residences upgraded.
We estimate works will be completed within the next hour.
The work on the wireless network is now complete.
