UPDATE: 22 Jan 2020 - 1:49pm
We are working towards a solution to the ongoing G Drive issue, but it will require time to copy and check the data.
The drive is expected to be offline for the rest of today, and to be fully restored before 9am tomorrow (Thursday 23 January).
If there is any way to restore access today, we will make every effort to do so. However, staff should assume that the G Drive will be unavailable until 9am.
Please avoid calling the IT Service Desk about G Drive issues.
Clare Gryce, Deputy Director of IT Services, said “we’re sorry that staff haven’t been able to access important files for two days this week, and we appreciate how much disruption this has caused. We’re focused on getting the drive back online and making sure this doesn’t happen again. The IT Strategy, and the upcoming Roadmap, look to address any weaknesses in our infrastructure and move us to more resilient, cloud-first solutions.”
The G Drive was restored at about 8:30am, following work over night by ITS staff and our support partners. You should now be able to access your files normally.
If you can’t access your G Drive, please log out and log back in to your computer. This should refresh your connection.
We are investigating the root cause of this issue, and we will be monitoring the health of the service closely in the coming days.
