We have seen a dramatic increase in the number of University email accounts being used to send malicious email. Over 400 accounts are currently being used for this purpose. This happens when you have used your Sussex password on another site and that site has been hacked.
If your account is sending spam, we will reset your password to protect you. You won’t be able to log in until you visit Sussex Direct and set a new password.
Make sure you use a unique password that you haven’t used anywhere else. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD BACK TO ONE YOU HAVE USED BEFORE.
You will need to enter your new password onto your devices in order to connect to Wi-Fi and access University services.
You can find advice about creating and storing strong, unique passwords on the ITS homepage.
