Module Outline

How do media, films and music tell us things about the world? How do they engage with the politics, social and cultural issues of their time? This module will introduce you to debates that will help you to critically explore media, film and music texts. You will investigate a range of concepts and critical frameworks and develop the study skills necessary to examine a range of media forms.

Module learning outcomes

Apply basic methods for the analysis of media, film and/or music texts to a coherent argument.

Use appropriate technical language and concepts to discuss media, film and/or music.

Recognise characteristics of methodological and theoretical approaches to studying media, film and/or music.
